Touring the Isthmus of Panama

Republic of Panama is a small country located in Central America. It is an isthmus (Isthmus of Panama) that connects the North American and South American continents. The country is flanked by the Caribbean Sea in the north and the Pacific Ocean in the south. To its east lies Colombia while Costa Rica forms its western border. Panama controls the strategically important Panama Canal linking The Atlantic Ocean with the North Pacific Ocean via the Caribbean Sea. With an area of 75,420 square kilometres, Panama is the eighth largest country in Central and North America while 124th worldwide. Panama is the third or fourth largest and the fastest growing economy in Central America. The standard time of Panama is GMT minus 5 hours while its ISD code is 507. Witnessing the Mayan relics at Guatemala

The Republic of Guatemala is a small country located in Central America. It is bordered by Belize in the northeast, Honduras and El Salvador in the southeast, Mexico to the north and west while the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea wash its shores in the southwest and east, respectively. Guatemala is spread over an area of 1,10,000 square kilometres while its population is estimated at 1,32,76,517. Guatemala is the seventh largest state in North and Central America. National capital is Guatemala City and national currency is Quetzal. Spanish and Maya are the major languages spoken in Guatemala. El Salvador: the Tom Thumb of the Americas

The smallest country (area: 21,00 square kilometres) in continental Cantral America, El Salvador is bordered by, Honduras in the north and east and Pacific Ocean in the south. The Presidential Republic with a population of 5 million mostly comprises Mestizo ethnic groups besides Whites and Amerindians. El Salvador had won its independence from Spain in 1821, from the First Mexocan Empire in 1823 and from the Central American federation in 1842. National capital is San Salvador, which is also the biggest city in the country while US Dollar is the national currency (till 2001 Colon was the national currency). Spanish is the national language. Geography: El Salvador lies in the Pacific Ring of Fire and is subject to earthquake and volcanic eruption. Lake Güija is the largest natural lake. Tourists’ paradise called Belize

Belize (earlier known as British Honduras), is a small country in Central America spread over an area of 22,960 square kilometres. The country is bordered by Mexico in the north, Guatemala in the south and west and the Caribbean Sea in the east. Belize is the only state in Central America that has English as its official language (Spanish, Garifuna, Maya, Kriol are among other languages). Belize, with a population of 3 million, has the lowest population density but highest population growth in Central America.
