Entrance yourself in the Labyrinth of the souks in Damascus part 3

You need expert guidance, as this market could be almost as tricky as Damascus. And just like Parisians, they have cultivated a contrarian spirit that enjoys recommendations from one another.  In fact if you seek the advice of the two locals like Jacques Montlucon who apparently is French born engineer and specialist in restoring antiquities. He, along with Sameer Hamsho who happens to be the owner of a rug shop in the old city.  As you sit I one of the back rooms, you may hear the men arguing and conversing about old city tales and they would probably continue the conversation to their chic hotels and restaurants. All the shops are stores around are quite exquisite and it is sure that all of them deserve a visit. If all of Damascus was a departmental store then instead of aisles, you would have aisles, with hammered copper and brass trays and coffee pots. And in another you will find barrels of spice and candies in the other aisles. The furniture shops here specialize I the mother  [...]

Entrance yourself in the Labyrinth of the souks in Damascus part 2

When you come upon a towering roman church or an arch, you will probably remember those who came to Damascus before and the left.  The roman left behind the Via Recta which is the straight street.  Then you have the Damascenes called Medhat Pasha.  Over here you would see the streets cutting through the old city which is like a plumb line and a good orienting tool for people who do not speak in Arabic. The tourist renaissance has over taken the city and has come up with the opening of beautiful hotels like the Beit Al Mamlouka and the many blue chip properties like the large four seasons hotel.  Some of these people from Damascus consider this popularity which is relatively new founded to actually be quite a blessing.  There seems to be a decline in the influx of cheap imports and craftsmanship as well. There is a mother of pearl workshop right outside the Old city.  Many tourists come here. There are craftsmen almost making throne like chairs fit for King Louis the fifteenth.  [...]

Expect the unexpected in Cancun

When you are in the Cancun complex, there is a party that is always underway. You would find tourists everywhere, women, children and grandchildren. There are crowds that move around the large folding tables that sag with food, the white walls are a reflection of the many songs that are all sung in unison. This party would probably have a host with a big yellow shiny tie that is flung quite rakishly over the left shoulder. All this is done a folding chair. When you look at it, complimenting you plastic cup of Stolichnaya vodka. The Chabad house is mostly an outreach enter for the lubavitchers, the orthodox Hasidic Jewish sect.  Well; the best part about this is the free dinner! The place has this loud Mexican and Mayan Riviera which is probably every frugal travelers dream. You could have a five star Cancun experience at big resorts like the Ritz Carlton and the Le meridian. These resorts have their beachside cabana restaurants and their fancy spas. All these should be well into  [...]

Entrance yourself in the Labyrinth of the souks in Damascus

Book a room on one of the exquisitely restored Ottoman era boutique hotels which is located in the old city.  On the way you should ask one of the locals for the best place to buy embroidered Aghabani table clothes. Once you are done you should push through the labyrinth of the souk Al Hamidiyeh. While you are here you should pick up an Aghabani table cloth for yourself or an aunt or even your mother! They just seem to love it.  The table clothe are about fourteen feet of cream colored cotton which has filigreed scrolling garlands that are stitched by seamstresses in an amber shade. Along with the table cloth you get about sixteen napkins.  All this is available for about two hundred dollars. According too the locals here , if you want to bargain , never insult the product , rather , just say that u cant afford it and act regretful.  If you are lucky then the salesman himself will ask you, how much you could pay for it.  Give him your prices and if he refuses then just sigh and  [...]

Hopping around Marylands vineyards part 2

The president of Boordy, Rob Deford says that the wine producers are living in world of trial and error, experimentation and figuring out what is the best way to make their wine.  He also said that he would want to cast a large net in promoting his produce as he wanted to proactively entice customers.  he added that they have always wanted to actually cater to as many different kinds of palates that they could. One of the most famous of wineries here in Maryland is the black ankle.  Over here all the grapes used to make wine here are actually grown right here; on site.  This winery is almost entirely self sustainable.  This place opened in the year two thousand and eight and the place has a tasting room which is made very elegantly. The tasting room in fact is located in the base of the hills that surround the vineyard.  This Vineyard is owned by Boyce and Herron.  This is essentially an husband and wife team  who had actually bought the one hundred and fifty acre gran farm I  [...]

Enjoy yourself in the amazing Antigua

Antigua is quite small. It is about fourteen miles in length and about eleven miles in width. This is one of the most famous paradise islands that are known to set the benchmark for similar tourist destinations.  There are about three hundred and sixty five beaches here. Or, that is just how many beaches the brochures claim to have. These beaches decorate the coastline quite provocatively. . This is where you get an over whelming; not to mention; exhilarating, view of the entire sea. There are also amazing views of the vast tropical landscape. These high end luxury resorts have completely commercialized the entire surrounding area.  The guest here are usually people who just come here to enjoy the calm serene atmosphere of the place and since the hotels here are designed keeping most details about the visitors in mind; the guests just don’t end up going outside for whatever reasons. Although you should definitely get out, because about a short drive from the harbor over on the south  [...]

Do what most never do, in East London

Fully equipped with picnic table and folding chairs, the scenario over here feels like it is like a shack on a beach.  The ground floor here has been converted into a fun factory, in east London. The wine here is served in regular juice glasses and the food is regular bar snacks. Yes, I am talking about almonds and radish with anchovies.  A young crowd generally occupies most of the seats and benches on the walkways that run all along the Regent Canal. There is a thin water line that passes in between the industrial area here.  This place is quite the siesta zone. During the afternoon, this place has a very village feel to it. In east London, the area is filled with artists, anarchists and even immigrants. The neighborhood and places like Shore ditch, Bethnal Green and Hackney Wick, is where these artists work and sometimes even live as well.  Apart from all this, the east London area is also known for its venues to play shop and eat! The streets in east London are quite serene and  [...]
