Itaipu Dam is situated on the Parana River along the border of Brazil and Paraguay. It is the largest hydroelectric facility in the world. The construction of the dam was completed in the year 1991. The governments of Brazil and Paraguay take joint credit for the dam’s construction. River Parana is the world’s seventh largest river. Of all the rivers in South America, it is the second largest. Parana River rambles through Brazil and Paraguay’s borders. It finally moves south toward Argentina. It then enters the ocean at the estuary of Rio de la Plata at Uruguay.
