Chillingham Castle

A fine and austere castle, the Chillingham Castle is a square edged edifice in Northumberland, England. The castle dates back to the middle ages, and has a good area of woods surrounding it. The gardens of the castle are beautifully maintained. The castle has been under the ownership of the Earls of Grey ever since the 12th century. Chillingham Castle is beautiful on the outside, but has some scary aspects to it too. The stone castle has a dungeon, the eerie atmosphere of which is made even more so by the graffiti by prisoners on the walls. There is also a torture chamber here, with staple implements such as the thumb screws, rack, iron maiden and others. The castle still houses the original torture devices that were used. Chillingham Castle has had an eventful history. The place has an overwhelming reputation as the most haunted castle in the world, and maybe the history has something to do with it. Sariska Palace

Sariska Palace is a real true blue palace that is now a hotel. The palace was the monarchial residence, as well as hunting lodge. The palace is located at the border of Sariska National Park and was erected by the Maharaja of Alwar. The palace was built in honor of the coming of the Duke of Connaught, the son of Queen Victoria. The palace is built with a range of architectural styles incorporated, French for one, and myriad eastern influences. The Sariska palace now functions as a heritage hotel. The interiors are chic and tasteful, with some art deco and Louis XIV furnishings, and a few wicker chairs and Victoriana.
