Cuba is 105th largest country on the planet adorned with psychedelic Che Guevara frescoes and antiquated American Buicks. As a visitor, along with a passport, money, and comprehensive knapsack, you do need elasticity, vision, persistence, and a vital intellect of adventure. Above this, if you can talk in Spanish, the journey can take you to further excursions and deep detailing as compared to a normal visitor.

Cuba Tourist Attractions

Havana

Havana is the capital city of the nation and also holds its reserved place in the list of the most famous holiday destinations on Earth.

  • Acuario Nacional:
Established in 1960, this aquarium is the worth a visit as compared to other aquariums in the country. Both educational and environmentalist, the aquarium houses the special Saltwater fishes along with sea lions and dolphins.
  • Aquarium:
Best for kids, this is a small freshwater aquarium seated in an ancient building of Habana Vieja housing eight tanks of varied fishes on the planet.
  • Asociacion Cultural Yoruba de Cuba:
A museum here makes you familiar with the Santeria religion and the powers of the saints. Watch out for over 30 terracotta statues of the vital orishas (deities) such as Chango, the God of War, and Yemaya, the Goddess of the Sea. The best time to be here is on alternate Fridays at 16:30 for free entry, tambores (drum-jams-cum-ceremonies), and consultations with a santero (Santería high priest).
  • Bust of Ernest Hemingway:
Located besides Torreon de Cojimar and edged by a neoclassical arcade, this is a gilded bust since 1962 built by the inhabitants of Cojimar. Hemingway used to arrive frequently here in the 1940s and 50s and tied his boat at the nearby harbor.
  • Camara Oscura:
Located in the northwest corner of Plaza Vieja and in the stunning Gomez Vila building, this is a frolicking sight offering comprehensive views through a telescopic lens on the 35m tall tower.
  • Capitolio Nacional:
Alike the US Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.; however, this is quite tall and lush in looks. Its construction included 5000 workers for three years, two months and 20 days. Explore the Cuban Academy of Sciences and the National Library of Science & Technology.

  • Casa de Africa:
This is a museum exhibiting the work of arts given to Fidel Castro in 1977 at his Africa tour. It includes varied items of 26 different countries and that a few items belong to the Afro-Cuban religion Santería.

This is the most ancient citadel built between 1558 and 1577. Simply amazing, this fort is enclosed by an imposing moat and its coral walls. Check out the Museo de la Ceramica Artística Cubana and snack stand and souvenir shop.
  • Catedral de San Cristóbal de la Habana:
Overlooked by the two dissimilar towers and edged by a dramatic baroque frontage, it truly exhibits the style of the Italian architect Francesco Borromini. Stated as ‘music set in stone’ by Cuban novelist Alejo Carpentier, Pope John Paul II had conducted a mass in January 1998.
  • Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau:
This is the primary cultural institution formed in 1996 holding many descriptions of items such as poetry readings and a live acoustic music chain called the Guitarra Limpia. The Salon de Arte Digital here is famous for its worthy digital art.
  • Centro Gallego:
Built as a Galician social club in 1914 A.D., this structure might give you a false impression of being baroque, but it is a 20th century work. Spend some time in the center full of several arcades, columns, balconies, and sculptures that was erected somewhere in 1838 A.D.
  • Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas:
This is precisely the place where the anticholesterol drug Ateromixol or PPG was born without any need to foreign support. This noteworthy work marks the centre as the means to an excellent pharmaceutical industry in the future.

Sancti Spiritus

This was my first visit to this charming town that made me feel as I am in Trinidad with the old wilted Buicks down the paved streets telling about its history. Established in 1514 A.D., Sancti Spíritus was later shifted on its current location on the Río Yayabo in 1522 A.D. Plan for at least a two day stay here for its famous elegant guayabera shirt and the guayaba (guava) fruit.

  • Calle Llano:
This is an archetypal local lane with cobblestones, iron balconies, and wooden beams that reminded me of Trinidad.

This is a stadium where baseball games are held from October to April at 1 km north of the bus stop.
  • Fundación de la Naturaleza y El Hombre:
This is the most attractive museum on Parque Maceo. Know about the interesting story of the 17,422 km canoe odyssey ‘from the Amazon to the Caribbean’ in 1987. Around 432 expeditionaries covered 10 countries from Ecuador to the Bahamas.
  • Galeria de Arte:
Located besides the agropecuario (vegetable market), this gallery holds 86 works of the local painter Oscar Fernández Morera (1890-1946).
  • Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Caridad:
Situated across from the Fundación de la Naturaleza y El Hombre, this is the striking old sight with nests of sparrows over the altar.
  • Iglesia Parroquial Mayor del Espíritu Santo:
This is an interesting yellow-wooden church built in 1522 A.D. and then restored in 1680 A.D. Mostly remaining closed, this church by attending the mass at 17:00 daily and 09:00 on Sundays.

If you are a sport or coin lover, this is the just the place to be for soaking in its beautiful numismatic and athletic items on Parque Serafín Sanchez.
  • Parque Serafín Sanchez:
In this leisure lane, the most breathtaking theater like building is on the southwest corner built in 1929, which is the Biblioteca Provincial Ruebén Martínez Villena.
  • Puente Yayabo:
This is the most popular sight – a quadruple-domed brick bridge. Built in 1815 A.D. by the Spanish, this is a national monument that exhibits a more English style.
