Dal Lake is another attractive tourist spot in this part of Dharamshala. Around 11 km from Dharamshala this is surrounded by deodar trees and fills the entire area with beautiful scenic pleasures. Then of course you have McLeodganj, which is actually also called the Little Lhasa. Located at a height of around 1770 m, this is the place where the Dalai Lama lives. Go to Bhagsunath and enjoy the sights of the fresh water springs which is a very ancient temple which is around 11 km from Dharamshala. A very popular spot for picnic this is a place which has some of the best slate quarries and these are lying nearby.
You can also walk from the Kotwali Bazaar to the rock temple and is very enchanting and exciting. This 3 km walk is a great experience and is an ideal hiking tour.
Lying on the top of the hill, Dharamkot is another picnic region that gives the best view of the Kangra Valley and the Dhauladhar ranges. This lies around 11 km from the region of Dharamshala.
