The Grenada Island is famous for its invasion by Uncle Sam, U.S in the ‘80s, and a hurricane of 2004. Despite its low-reputed fame, nevertheless, it has stored its good name as an emerging reinvention of life and tourism. Like a warrior fighting against each unexpected situation, this smallest country in the western hemisphere has an atmosphere of never dying spirit of the people and a surrounding with lot of attractions.
Located on the southeast of the Caribbean with one big island and two small ones hardly explored, Grenada has a rainforest heart and beaches edging the coast. Best scenic waterfronts of the Caribbean, magnificent scuba diving, stone buildings, historic forts, colorful homes, and welcoming people are all stuffed in the hilly environment and urban visuals.

St George’s
This is in the inner harbor with among the most artistic look and feel. Colonial buildings shake hands with the dazzling Caribbean stalwarts in this town appearing as a historic painting. Stone churches are ideal in themselves and a rising fort dominates the harbor. Overall, I got the feeling of the European style digested here, while the looks are yet not missed of a Caribbean.
Take a pride in walking along the narrow and sheer lanes and do some window shopping or literally shop in its attractive shops. All the traffic is towards the hilly laneways on the maze of stony and cluttered roads
Carriacou
Grenada is comprised of three islands. This is the fact that many tourists are unaware of and hence miss the visit to the
third island of Carriacou (carry-a-cou). It is the minor one, but a modest one.
Remaining as one of the unexplored isle, you will not able to feel the tourists’ throng and busy hang outs. In addition, you will feel all the way isolated due to lack of cruise ships, big resorts, or souvenir shops. This means that the West Indian environs here has not changes since 50 years, it is the same as quiet, still not going with the modern time, and all cozy.
For me, this itself was its plus point as I could explore in solitude its ripe beaches and lush hills where there was no one to distract me. It was seriously a pleasure to enjoy its undiscovered hiking trails and some veiled, but best beaches. What you think – isn’t this a cool opportunity to explore a small island? I believe that all discoveries are possible where there is solitude, be it scientific, urban, or geological.
Victoria
We came here through a bus from St. George’s at a cost of EC$3.50. Here, the cliffside west coast road is worth a visit where the breathtaking scenes of the sea scattered with the irregular tripping rock. Victoria is considered as among the larger towns in Grenada. Offering you a handful of local facilities along with a superb nutmeg-processing plant, this trip is good if you are not expecting many attractions.
Just be careful of the cliffs while on the road, as they may lead to a disaster.
Grand Etang National Park
Located at 2.5 miles northeast of Constantine at high point of 1900 feet, we reached the national park after passing a roadside sign with an admission fee of $2. At 0.5 mile after the sign, we came across the Grand Etang visitor center at the roadside that dominates the primary attraction of the crater lake – Grand Etang Lake. The center exhibits some collections that educate us on the local flora, fauna, and history anytime between 8:30 am to 4 pm from Monday to Friday and even on the weekends if cruise ships are there. In the outer side of the center, you will find a string of stalls offering souvenirs, spices, and cold drinks. The park offers many hiking trails out of which some as listed below.
January to April is the preferred time to visit.
Grenada is also known as the “Island of Spice” due to the production of Nutmeg and mace crops of which Grenada is one of the world’s largest exporters.
