Shimla or earlier Simla, is the capital of lovely and fascinating land of Himachal Pradesh. An earlier summer capital for the British rulers, this is a very popular tourist spot today and is very fondly also called the “Queen of the Hills.” This is a term that the British gave the place with the most ideal tourist locales and memorable travel pleasures.
Situated at a height of around 2205 metres, the City of lovely rhododendrons and pine, Shimla is a great place to be in and a lovely locale to visit . The architectural pattern in Shimla is mostly neogothic and has the best facets of the colonial era. Incidentally Shimla is connected to the nearest city Kalka by one of the largest narrow gauge railway link in India. Shimla has been named after the Indian goddess Shyamadevi who is supposed to be an incarnation of Goddess kali.

A great travel delight for all adventure lovers and situated at a height of around 8000 feet, jakhu Hill is a lovely point where you would get a panoramic view of the entire city. This is the highest peak here and greatly contributes to the scenic beauty by offering the best views of the Himalayas. There is a Hanuman temple on top and one gets amused by seeing the countless monkeys that are found here.
This is a lovely and fascinating town here in the Shimla Kalka railway line. At a height of around 6500 feet and around 5 kms from the Ridge, this is an enchanting zone with the calmest surroundings. It is said that Mahatma Gandhi lived here while he used to visit Himachal Pradesh. The Himachal Pradesh University is also located here.

This is an institute that is located in the Viceregal Loge. This was constructed in the years between 1884 to 1888. With a vast verdant expanse and lovely pine trees, this is a tranquil zone where the tourist can unwind and rejuvenate his tired soul.
