According to history, the Huns in Mongolia were ruling, and they were known to be quite violent. To protect themselves from the Mongols, the Chinese started to build walls. These walls were what is now the great wall of china. Many empires took control of the Mongol region over the years. Until, Genghis Khan; reunited the tribes and became the leader of these tribes.
Mongolia is the sixth largest country in Asia. Its is about four times the size of japan and roughly twice the size of Texas. Mongolia is known for its wrestling, archery and horse-racing. Apparently Genghis Khan made it mandatory for his soldiers to participate at these games. This is because; he wanted them to remain fit at all times. Hence, the Naadam games had started. Soon to be a national event. The entire even takes place in Ulaanbaatar and is celebrated from eleventh to the thirteenth of July.
According to an old Mongolian legend, a woman, once disguised as a man won the wrestling competition. Hence from then, the Mongol wrestlers started wearing an open chested long sleeve wrestling costume. Originally meant to show that every participant is male. The best time to visit Mongolia would be from august till October. The temperature is warm and the nights are bearably cold. During this time, the festivals are on and you will get to experience a lot of cultural events. If you are the adventurous type then don’t hesitate to try the local mare’s milk.
