It is said to be the highest single-drop waterfall in North America, but waterfall has the water falling only from April to June. By July, there isn’t a drop of water, but as the spring comes and as snow melts to feed the falls. It is known as Ribbon Falls because at 1,612 feet high, visitors can watch water falling in a line as thin as a ribbon against a backdrop of gorgeous cliffs. On the west side of the rock formation famously known as “El Capitan,” the waterfall can be seen from far as there are no trails to top, it is ephemeral falls seen from southside road, ensconced in a narrow amphitheater like, can be seen only from front. The trail to Ribbon Falls is an easy, enjoyable hike, passing through a deep canyon with several waterfalls; it is a very popular trail coz of the gentle grade suitable for families with children and on weekends falls get very busy. It is also the first leg of the trail to Ribbon Lake, Guinn’s Pass and Buller Pass.

The largest waterfall in Europe, Rhine Falls is said to have been formed approximately 15,000 years ago by erosion-resistant rocks, which in turn narrowed the riverbed to form a water alley, with its three sections are divided by islands of piled jagged limestone. This hidden treasure sparkles and glimmers in sunlight and dazzling beauty of majestic wonder. There is a path in the wooded shore along its one side, for the beautiful view of falls, with little belvederes opening among the trees just above the swirling water. One of the most beautiful places of heaven of Goa, tiered, whitewater Dudhsagar Falls, meaning “Sea of Milk”. At headwaters of the Mandovi river, the rushing waters branch into 3 cascades to plummet through 4 tiers of waterfalls. And this results in at large water pools at base, of crystal clear water which are perfect for swimming. The falls are all year round making it a great place and you can see whenever you visit Goa, although the falls are spectacular and most stunning during the Indian monsoon season between July and October. Why its called Dudhasagar falls, because of white foam which is thrown up when the water hit’s the pools at the bottom and sprays up and especially during the monsoon season when the water flows more quickly, its so breathtaking. Also there is a myth about which tells the story of a princess who took daily bath in the clear waters of the falls and always had a jug of milk while bathing given by her maid. And once during her bath a man approached who saw her bathing so, in order to cover her, she poured the jug of milk into the pool and creating a legend.
Dudhsagar falls can be compared to a sea of milk. The rail route that passes through the waterfall is more of a boon for the people interested in viewing natural beauty. One can easily reach the waterfalls by train or by road. And, these waterfalls are approximately 10 kilometers distance from Kulem Railway Station. Carved steps provide easy access to the top, and take a dip in those pools with clear water.
