Do you like spending holidays in white-sand beaches, neat azure sea waters, a tranquil atmosphere across islets, isolated coves, and cruising to explore nearby islands? If yes, then precisely these islands are just ideal for you and your hot favorite activities that can be carried out here with great fun. Divers and beach adductors will simply admire the excellence of the sea here where clear waters hold no roaring waves.

Even I like all this to be the part of my holiday destination and so I decided to visit this dreamland of mine.

Turks & Caicos Attractions
  • Caicos Conch Farm:
This is the only sea farm that raises Caribbean queens in the world. Located in Providenciales city in Caicos, this farm educates you on the process of raising the conches here and makes you greet with the two trained and welcoming conchs. You can also see conch pearls.
  • Cheshire Hall:
This is the prime historic attraction in Providenciales that holds 200 year-old ruins that once form the cotton plantation with a setting of modern day island. From here, you can have some magnificent views of the island. The plantation belonged to Thomas Stubbs who came in the 19th century and gave the current name. You will find a marked stone inscribed as ‘W. Stubbs 1810” that indicates the selling event of this property to his brother Wade. The plantations covered a vast land with 384 slaves for some 30 years before any decline through soil exhaustion and hurricane was witnessed.
  • Humpback Whales:
The two islands are located surrounding the borders of two large limestone plateaus, the Turks Bank, where Humpback Whales, spotted Eagle rays, Manta Rays, and Turtles migrate. So, the North Atlantic Humpback Whales are spotted around the islands of Grand Turk and Salt Cay of Caicos from late to early April. Go for a whale watching tour whereon you can meet these incredible creatures, learn some educational facts about them, and hear their songs during a morning dive. I recommend you to never this miss this chance.
  • Jojo:
This refers to a unique Atlantic Bottlenose dolphin who survives in the not that deep waters of the two islands in the West Indies from 1980 A.D. Remarkably, he is such a beautiful creature that is ever ready to shake hands with the humans. The government has designated this creature as a national treasure that is under protection of an elite warden.
  • Middle Caicos Caves:
This is an imposing string of limestone caves forming the biggest one on the Caribbean along with the sheer and captivating limestone cliff side of Mudjidin Beach. Once we finished visiting the caves, we had lunch on the beach followed by snorkeling for the rest of the day. Trips to Middle Caicos can be planned through Dolphin Tours and Silver Deep.
  • The Hole:
Situated in Long Bay in Providenciales, this is a natural wonder. It is a huge limestone hole (40 feet) accessible by descending down a rope until 80 feet to see this swimming hole. This is really an adventure, so be brave and ready for this courageous trip.
  • Bight Reef:
This is a must see site to explore its underwater world of coral reefs through diving and snorkeling in Providenciales.
  • Bird Watching:
This is a memorable one for nature and bird lovers due to the presence of the salt ponds and inland swamps that has proven themselves as ideal feeding homes of the local and migratory birds. Look out for Great Blue Herons, Flamingos, Osprey and Pelicans alongside Egrets, Terns, Frigates, Boobies, and more. Over 12 small cays have been protected for breeding grounds that come under the National Parks system. In total, 170 different species of bird can be seen on these islands. Especially on the island of Caicos towards north, the tidal planes on the South, you can find myriad birds, mostly the wild Pink Flamingos that thrive quite often in the Flamingo Pond. To look at something rare and different, watch out for the rare West Indian Whistling-Duck that is named so due to its unique whistling call.
  • Chalk Sound National Park:
This is the most visited natural attraction located at a distance of a 2 mile drive southwest of the downtown. The lively lagoon shines opposing to the rocky cliffs. Within the park, you can see Sapodilla and Taylor Bay that are the two not much deep coves. The best way to explore is to rent a kayak and carry lunch with you.
  • Crossing Place Trail:
This coastal route is simply for hiking to explore the Middle Caicos along with its attractions. While on hike, spot the Flamingo Pond, limestone bluffs of Mudjiin Harbor, or visit the Indian Caves.
  • Grace Bay:
This is the most popular beach in Providenciales and ecstasy for the beach lovers due to its most white sand and stunning reefs off shore.
  • Iguana Island:
Located in Providenciales, this is also known as Little Water Cay that is famous for its hundreds of iguanas. The island is now a national park. Just with few dollars, stroll on the walkway to explore the iguanas. This is fun for kids.
  • Grand Turk Lighthouse:
Built in 1852 A.D., its main purpose is to the guard the northern end of the capital of the dual island nation of Turks and Caicos. Restored well, the tower and lighthouse keeper’s home is an award winning historic site that is looked after by the National Trust. With some shelter and a picnic area, the lighthouse is worth visiting in February and March to spot the whales. The lighthouse hill dominates the North Creek that many historians argue it as the one described by the Columbus for the island when he first discovered in 1492 A.D.

The Turks and Caicos Islands are most well known for ripsaw music. The islands are known for their annual Music and Cultural Festival showcasing many local talents and other dynamic performances by many music celebrities from around the Caribbean and United States.

The island’s most popular sports are fishing, sailing, football and cricket (which is the national sport).
